Riversong Players present

Strings of the Violin

A poignant new one act drama about resilience, imagination, and the power of story during wartime.

Riversong Players invites young actors to audition for Strings of the Violin, a moving theatrical production centered on children navigating the uncertainties and danger of World War II. Through myth, folklore, and shared storytelling, they discover courage, hope, and connection in a world turned upside down.

Roles needed

4 Female Performers, 2 Male Performers

  • Ages 12-18

  • Dramatic acting ability

  • Willingness to explore emotional range and imaginative play

  • Ability to engage in physical storytelling and collaborative ensemble work

All ethnicities and experience levels are encouraged to audition. This production is supportive, inclusive, and community-oriented.

What to Prepare

  • A short dramatic monologue or a selected scene from the audition packet

  • Be prepared for cold reads, ensemble exercises and imaginative storytelling prompts

  • Wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement

Rehearsals & Performances

Rehearsals begin: Tuesday January 6

Rehearsal Schedule: Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 5:30pm-8:30pm

Performances: March 24-27, 2026

All rehearsals and performances will be held at the Almonte Old Town Hall.

Haunted Walk of Almonte

Walk a Historic path in Almonte and you just might meet a piece of our History that still lingers…or perhaps a few!

Join us, if you DARE!!!

Walk begins at Almonte Old Town Hall (14 Bridge St., Almonte) and ends at the Barley Mow (79 Little Bridge St., Almonte).

General admission tickets are $20, Youth 10+ tickets are $15 (use code CHILD5 at checkout). Children under 10 are free with an adult ticket, however please use discretion (re the SPOOKY)!

Event still takes place if it rains, please dress warmly and bring an umbrella if necessary!

Auditions Extended!

Due to community interest, auditions have been extended, specifically for our first show of the season (A Christmas Story, The Musical) and our October events (Haunted Walk, Spooky Shakespeare, Creepy Choir/Cabaret). We will have rolling auditions for our other Mainstage Shows and Community Events (stay tuned!) Please fill out our Audition/Magic Maker form here!

All rehearsals and performances are held at the Almonte Old Town Hall, 14 Bridge St., Almonte.

Rehearsals are scheduled for Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 5:30pm -8:30pm, with the addition of Thursdays at the end of October.

Performers are not required to attend all rehearsals, as the schedule is determined by availability.

2025/2026 Ensemble Auditions!

We are currently forming our 2025/2026 Ensemble! Open to performers of all levels, Youth 10+ and Adults, and anyone interested in backstage magic: scenic artists, costume helpers, tech crew, musicians and more!

There are also opportunities to be involved in community events with Riversong, such as spooky performances for Almonte’s first Highland Haunt & Harvest, the Winter Night Market, and much much more!
